10/27/2017 MBK Senior Living's Oakmont Gardens Community Goes Extra Mile to Protect and Serve Residents During Wildfire Crisis

In the early morning hours on Oct. 9, Cathy Allen, executive director of MBK Senior Living's Oakmont Gardens awoke to a call from an employee who was being evacuated. It was then that she discovered smoke filling her apartment and flames right outside the front window. Even with her own home in imminent danger, Allen knew her first responsibility was to the 200 residents at Oakmont Gardens. Grabbing her purse, phone, a towel, and her cat, she fled to her car--only to find the gate opener was jammed. Allen rammed her new car through the gate and headed for work. By 3:00 a.m., she was at the senior living community and calling the police every 20 minutes.

7/27/2017 MBK Resident Donates $10,000 to MBKommunity for Kids Program

Virginia Taylor, a resident at MBK Senior Living’s Creekside community in Woodinville, Wash., knows firsthand what it means to be a foster kid. So, when she learned of the company’s MBKommunity for Kids program for foster kids, Virginia was so moved, she donated $10,000. The MBKommunity for Kids program included a series of fundraiser events at the company’s 22 senior living communities during June and July to support Together We Rise, a non-profit organization focused on supporting foster children.

5/2/2017 MBK Senior Living Hosts Event to “Solve the Mind Body Puzzle”

MBK Senior Living invites seniors and their families to visit one of the company’s 22 senior living communities on Thursday, May 11th to participate in an interactive presentation entitled “Solving the Mind Body Konnection Puzzle.” As part of the company’s commitment to providing seniors with programs and services that encourage health, wellness and longevity, this workshop will include discussion about the various dimensions of wellness, a wellness self-assessment and valuable take home information to help seniors connect to their best self.

2/16/2017 MBK Real Estate Companies Names Jeff Fischer President of MBK Senior Living

MBK Real Estate Companies announced today that Jeff Fischer has been named president of the company’s senior living division, MBK Senior Living. In this role, Mr. Fischer will be responsible for leading the execution of MBK Senior Living’s strategic operations plans, team building and leadership, as well as providing a key role in division’s ongoing growth. “For more than 22 years, Mr. Fischer has been recognized for his efforts in senior living development and industry leadership,” said Kain Matsumoto, Chairman of the Board for MBK Real Estate LLC. “He brings to MBK Senior Living an extraordinary background in senior living and a solid reputation for achieving results.”

9/2/2016 MBK Senior Living Adds 6th Community to Portfolio in 30 Days

As part of MBK Senior Living’s aggressive growth strategy and commitment to serving seniors, the company has added six communities over the last month. The rapid expansion has continued despite the recent departure of Terry Howard, who resigned as president in August. According to Danielle Morgan, MBK’s chief operating officer, Howard’s exit has not affected the company’s growth strategy or any of the company’s third-party management contracts. In fact, amidst the selection process for a new president, MBK Senior Living has completed the purchase of The Commons at Dallas Ranch in Antioch, California on September 1st.

Beginning July 27th MBK Senior Living (MBK) assumed the operations management of Fairview Commons, a 148 unit retirement community located in Costa Mesa, California. Fairview Commons, previously known as Costa Neuporte, brings MBK’s portfolio to a total of 17 independent, assisted living and memory care retirement communities located in Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah and Washington.

2/8/2016 The Country Club of La Cholla Receives NAHB 55+ Housing Award

The Country Club of La Cholla, an MBK Senior Living (MBK) retirement community in Tucson, Arizona, was a finalist in this year’s National Association of Homebuilders’ NAHB 55+ Housing Awards. The community earned 3rd place in the Independent Living Community category.
